Study of the influence of ionic additives on water-induced electrical percolation process in AOT reverse microemulsions

Annotation:

The process of water-induced electrical percolation in reversed microemulsions prepared based on anionic surfactant sodium bis (2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT) has been studied. The influence of ionic kosmotropic and chaotropic additives on the electrical percolation threshold has been investigated. It was found that electrical percolation in AOT reverse microemulsions occurs at a relatively higher value of water/surfactant molar ratio at the addition of dilute (0.002 M) aqueous solutions of salts than in the case of pure water. Besides, the values of specific electrical conductivity during percolation are lower in the presence of salts compared to pure water. Electrical percolation is completely suppressed with increasing salt concentration (0.01M).
